Most Insurance and Employee Assistance Programs Accepted at Blair Counseling

Blair Counseling and Mediation will bill your insurance company or employee assistance program as a courtesy, if you wish. Blair Counseling asks that at each session you pay your co-pay or co-insurance amount, if applicable.

Blair Counseling and Mediation works to provide tools that can be used to save relationships, manage depression or anxiety, and help children with behavioral concerns. We also provide a respectful and understanding approach to addiction.

In mediation Dan Blair demonstrates understanding of the effect of the divorce process and stays focused on resolving the necessary issues.  Blair offers an in-person consultation for no charge where he will answer any questions you may have. Blair Counseling and Mediation provides experienced guidance in mediating other types of domestic or personal disputes.

Blair Counseling and Mediation also offers counseling through a number of experienced clinicians.

Carlos Acosta, LCSW


has been active in the social service field since 1990.  He has previously worked as a Child Welfare Advanced Specialist, Clinical Screener for NIU, and Crisis Counselor.  Carlos, being fluent in Spanish, has experience working with diverse populations and cultures.  He focuses on recognizing the strengths we all have and common traits that bind us together, while offering concrete tools to resolve our differences.  Carlos is adept at listening and clarifying feelings we have for ourselves, our family, or others that are important in our lives. He has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2005, earned his B.S. in Leisure Studies, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his M.A. in Social Service Administration, University of Chicago.

Dan Blair, LMFT, LCPC

Blair Counseling located in McHenry County

has worked 20 years in social service settings. Dan is experienced as a licensed clinical professional counselor, a marriage and family therapist and is a trained, court-approved divorce mediator and parenting coordinator. He is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution and Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Dan has been a live-in houseparent to over forty abused or neglected children. He also has been a foster parent, a consultant to group homes and foster homes, and a Clinical Director. He earned his B. A. in Psychology at Trinity College and his M. A. in Clinical Psychology at Wheaton College.

Sherry Brown, LCPC, NCC


is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Roosevelt University. Sherry has worked in the social service field for almost 15 years with a primary focus on children, adolescents and family counseling. She has worked with at-risk youth in a variety of settings including therapeutic day schools and in-home counseling. Sherry views each child/adolescent as an individual with his or her own strengths. She therefore focuses treatment on rebuilding that inner strength to begin the process of healing, learning and growing. She feels that a child’s family system needs to be included in this process, and facilitates this through direct and supportive communication with the family, school and all other significant parties.

Eric Bruemmer, LCPC, NCC


is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who earned a B. S. and M.S. (all but thesis) in Computer Science at University of Kansas, and a M. S. in Human Services – Counseling. Eric has led and participated in a variety of counseling contexts including crisis management and corporate coaching. He is also an award-winning poet and editor of the engaged couple’s workbook For the Marriage of a Lifetime.

Sara Price, LCSW

Blair Counseling located in McHenry County
is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. Sara also holds a Bachelor's degree in Theater and Media Arts from the University of Kansas. Sara specializes in trauma, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, women's issues and binge eating disorders. She believes it is important it is to feel safe, understood and respected when you walk through a therapist's door and tell your story. She helps each person build a strong connection with his or her own inner wisdom. Sara works to identify the source of one’s pain, and then find relief and resolution as effectively as possible.

Blair Counseling and Mediation is discretely located in a professional building and is handicapped accessible. There is a private waiting room for clients and the office setting is warm, comfortable and inviting.
